Mythological Legend

According to legend, at the end of creation when even the sun and moon ceased to exist, Lord Brahma became deeply concerned. From his sight, two pearls fell, which transformed into two fierce demons. These demons began to chase Lord Brahma with the intent to kill him.

Frightened, Brahma sought the help of Lord Vishnu, and together they approached Lord Shiva in the Mahakal forest. Lord Shiva protected them by hiding them in his stomach and then destroyed the demons. Afterward, Brahma and Vishnu requested Lord Shiva for a boon of fearlessness. Granting their wish, Shiva manifested as the Abhayeshwar Mahadev at this spot.
