Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Date, Significance, Puja Vidhi, Muhurat & Moonrise Time

Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi 2025 is being observed today with great devotion across the country. This auspicious fast falls on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. On this day, devotees worship Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, following sacred rituals and customs. It is believed that observing this fast and offering Arghya (water offering) to the Moon removes all difficulties and brings happiness and prosperity.

Religious Significance of the Vrat
According to religious scriptures, fasting on Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi brings the special blessings of Lord Ganesha. The Narada Purana mentions that performing this vrat removes the ill effects of the Moon and Mercury (Chandra and Budh). It is believed to relieve both mental and physical distress, promoting peace, good fortune, and happiness within the family. Lord Ganesha, the symbol of wisdom and auspiciousness, brings positive transformation in life when worshipped with devotion.

Shubh Muhurat and Auspicious Yogas
Brahma Muhurat: 04:26 AM to 05:11 AM
Vijay Muhurat: 02:31 PM to 03:22 PM
Evening Puja (Amrit Kaal): 06:20 PM to 08:06 PM
This year's Vrat is even more significant due to the occurrence of Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrit Siddhi Yoga, which are believed to amplify the benefits of the puja and bring divine results.

Vrat and Puja Vidhi (Ritual Process)
Take a bath during Brahma Muhurat, wear clean clothes, and take a vow to observe the fast (Sankalp). Clean the prayer area and spread a red or yellow cloth on a small wooden platform (chowki). Install an idol or picture of Lord Ganesha. Place a whole betel nut (supari) as a symbol of Ganesha. Bathe the idol with Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) and then purify with Ganga Jal. Offer vermilion (sindoor), rice grains (akshat), sandalwood paste (chandan), flowers, durva grass, sacred thread (janeu), and fruits. Light a ghee lamp and camphor, perform Aarti, and recite Ganesh Chalisa. At night, offer Arghya to the Moon during moonrise. Break the fast the next morning after completing the rituals.

Moonrise Time
On this Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi, the Moon is expected to rise around 10:00 PM. At that time, offer Arghya to the Moon by mixing water, milk, Ganga Jal, and white flowers in a clean vessel. Offer it while looking at the moon and chanting mantras with folded hands.
